BOTS Financial Calendar: Weekly Top 5 Binary Options Trading Moves 07/15-19/2013

The Must Watch Top 5 Events of the Week

1. US Retail Sales

07/15/2013 – Monday at 12:30 pm GMT

What will it affect: USD, S&P500, DJIA

Forecast: 0.7% from previous 0.6%

Where to keep an eye on the event: CommuniTraders, Forex Factory, Bloomberg, Reuters, DailyFX

Why traders care and what to expect: Consumer spending represents about two thirds of the entire economic activity and Retail Sales make up for a hefty one third of all consumer spending. Monday’s indicator acts as a measure of consumer demand and it is known to have a high impact on the market.

Directional bias:  UP if the actual value is higher than 0.7%

DOWN if the actual value is lower than 0.7%

How I would trade this event: I would buy a 15 minute Put on EUR/USD if the value is higher than 0.8%.

2. German ZEW Economic Sentiment

07/16/2013 – Tuesday at 09:00 am GMT

What will it affect: EUR, DAX

Forecast: 39.9 from previous 38.5

Where to keep an eye on the event: CommuniTraders, Forex Factory, Bloomberg, Reuters, DailyFX

Why traders care and what to expect: This is a survey based on the opinions of about 275 German institutional analysts and investors who are asked to rate the economic conditions. Because of their jobs, they are highly informed and their opinion has a lot of weight.

Directional bias: UP if the actual value is higher than 39.9

DOWN if the actual value is lower than 39.9

How I would trade this event: I would buy an hourly Call on EUR/USD if the value will be higher than 40.

3. US Consumer Price Index (YoY)

07/16/2013 – Tuesday at 12:30 pm GMT

What will it affect: USD, S&P500, DJIA

Forecast: 1.6% from previous 1.4%

Where to keep an eye on the event: CommuniTraders, Forex Factory, Daily FX, Bloomberg, Reuters

Why traders care and what to expect: The Consumer Price Index is the main gauge of inflation; a higher CPI indicates that inflation is rising and consumers pay more for the products they purchase. A high inflation can determine the FED to increase interest rates in an attempt to counter the effects. The CPI includes over 200 categories of goods, divided into 8 main categories, each with different weight in the final calculation.

Directional bias: UP if the value is higher than 1.6%

DOWN if the value is lower than 1.6%

How I would trade this event: I would buy an hourly call on EUR/USD if the value does not rise above 1.6%

4. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke Testifies

07/17/2013 – Wednesday at 2:00 pm GMT

What will it affect: USD, S&P500, DJIA

Forecast: no forecast is announced for this type of event

Where to keep an eye on the event: CommuniTraders, Bloomberg, Reuters, DailyFX, Forex Factory

Why traders care and what to expect: The Chairman is due to testify before the House Financial Services Committee in Washington DC. The topic will be the Monetary Policy and members of the Committee will ask unscripted questions. This is usually the part that creates the highest volatility.

Note: Ben Bernanke will also testify Thursday at the same hour, before the Senate Banking Committee

Directional bias: UP if the Chairman has a hawkish attitude

DOWN if the Chairman has a dovish attitude

How I would trade this event: I will wait for volatility to calm down before trading

5. Group of Twenty Meetings (G20)

07/19/2013 – Friday

What will it affect: USD, EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, CHF

Forecast: no forecast is made for this type of event

Where to keep an eye on the event: CommuniTraders, Forex Factory, Bloomberg, Reuters, DailyFX

Why traders care and what to expect: The G20 meetings are attended by finance ministers and heads of central banks from the 20 participant states. Although the meetings are closed to the press, officials usually talk to journalists during the day and a statement is released once the meetings have concluded.

Directional bias: Volatility is expected but the direction cannot be predicted beforehand

How I would trade this event: I will wait for the market to settle down and then trade accordingly, or even better, I will not trade the entire day.
